Social Distancing, Health Checks, And A New Castle: What You Can Expect On Your Next Visit To Hong Kong Disneyland

After five months of keeping its gates closed due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Hong Kong Disneyland is finally ready to reopen tomorrow, 18 June!

Following Shanghai Disneyland, which reopened last month, Hong Kong Disneyland will be applying similar health and safety protocols to ensure only the best experience for its guests so they can continue to #BelieveInMagic.

Visiting this world-class park anytime soon? Here’s what you can expect when you go:

Health and Safety Measures

Hong Kong Disneyland will be enforcing stringent health and safety measures as the park adjusts to the new normal. Guests will only be able to complete their ticket booking under the new reservation process if they accomplish the mandatory health declaration. Then on their visit, they must wear face masks at all times, undergo temperature checks upon entering the park’s premises, and practice social distancing, especially when queueing for attractions. Hand sanitizers will be made available throughout the park for everyone’s convenience. And, guests are encouraged to make contactless payments.

Reduced Capacity

The park will be reopening on a gradual scheme. In the first two weeks following the resumption of its operations, Hong Kong Disneyland will be accommodating up to 9,000 people only, which is about 25 percent of its usual capacity. By the third week, the park may start accommodating up to 50 percent of its normal crowd volume.

No Character Interactions

Anybody who’s ever been to Disneyland can attest that one of the most memorable parts of visiting the Happiest Place on Earth is interacting with their favorite characters like Mickey, Minnie, and the Disney Princesses (Disney Villains, even!). But with the current climate, there will be no character interactions in the meantime. That means photo-ops, autograph sessions, and even quick meet-and-greets won’t be permitted (at least, for now). But don’t be too sad! You can still view the characters that made your childhood awesome at socially-distanced shows or spot them riding attractions! After all, this is for the safety of both the guests and cast members.

A Sneak Peek Of The Castle Of Magical Dreams

The Castle of Magical Dreams is nearing its completion  |  Disney

Guests are in for a treat when they visit Hong Kong Disneyland this June, as they will get a glimpse of the park’s newest centerpiece—the Castle of Magical Dreams. The stunning attraction, which is in its final stages of construction, replaced the Sleeping Beauty Castle and pays homage to 13 Disney Princesses and heroines, including the Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, and more! The Castle of Magical Dreams is reported to open this fall.
