Singapore Food Festival 2022: A Gastronomic Experience for Real Foodies

It’s no secret that Singaporeans are huge foodies. We’ll queue for hours in line for that eatery that’s proven to be worth the calories, or a new restaurant opened by famous chefs. Celebrate gastronomy at The Singapore Food Festival 2022 that’s returning for its 29th edition, from 24th August to 11th September 2022 at the Bayfront Event Space. It’s also the first physical festival since the pandemic.

According to Ms. Teyi Guo, Director, Retail & Dining, Singapore Tourism Board, “As international travel resumes, we are excited to bring SFF back to its usual format, with engaging in-person programming so visitors can fully experience the international palate of our city.”

With a feast of over 70 in-person and virtual experiences including a Chef’s Arena, a carnival rides, and a Festival Village with over 25 food establishments, it’s certainly a haven for those who live to eat.

What to Expect at the Singapore Food Festival 2022

  • A 9-course dinner by top chefs at Chef Arena

If you’re a real foodie, the Chef Arena is definitely not something that you’ll want to miss. Experience an exclusive 9-course dinner for “Real Foodies Only”. Curated by 14 acclaimed chefs from diverse backgrounds featured in SFF 2022’s virtual masterclasses. Expect innovative interpretations of local delights as a result of this international collaboration of chefs from all over the world.

The festival has brought together unexpected collaborations, such as one between Asia’s Best Pastry Chef 2022 winner Maira Yeo from two-Michelin star Cloudstreet and Chef Justin Lee of JL Dessert Bar in Seoul. The result is a Tropical Konggaru Tart, crafted using soybeans, pineapple compote and coconut chantilly cream.

Dig into a contemporary interpretation of the local hawker favourite Bak Kut Teh, the Pepper-crusted Pork Cheek. Chef Li Guang of Labyrinth and Chef Ton of Le Du (Bangkok, Thailand)’s creation will surely leave you craving for more.

Another dish on the menu is the Gula Melaka Glazed Smoked Salmon and Sambal Slaw, a tangy fusion main by Chef Jayce Ho of SGBrisketKitchen.

Afterwards, wind down with a Martell Noblige cocktail created by Juan Yi Jun, the head bartender of No Sleep Club. The Chef Arena is undoubtedly the ultimate indulgence you can enjoy at the Singapore Food Festival 2022.

  • Fusion Dishes from over 25 F&B brands

Another reason to head down to the Singapore Food Festival 2022 – more than 50 stalls will be presenting dishes that are exclusive to SFF 2022. You’ll only be able to try these delicacies on the festival grounds, as they will not be sold elsewhere.

A highlight is Jelebu Dry Laksa with its signature dish that includes Boston lobster and tiger prawns. What’s more, if you’re interested in plant-based dishes, try plant-based Golden Chilli Crab Burger by The Goodburger food truck.

Italian restaurant Dopo Teatro will also feature a Sambal Goreng Pizza, and Two Men Bagel House has come up with a Curry Bagelwich.

Fret not if you’re only in for the desserts. Tanglin Cookhouse has created a D24 Durian Croissant, and Liho will offer the Snow Mountain Kaya Milk Green Tea. Others include teh halia ice cream by The Ice Cream & Cookie Co., as well as Creamier’s guava sorbet with sour plum powder.

Fringe Activities

Enjoy a range of food-related workshops during the Singapore Food Festival 2022, such as a spice-mixing workshop led by Jeya Spices, a behind-the-scenes tour, and a look into how homegrown gin brand Brass Lion distills their Singapore dry gin.
