How to Get to Jeju

There are no direct flights from the Philippines to Jeju, and transiting via Seoul is only possible if you have a visa.

That said, below are visa-free countries that Filipinos can transit through. Be sure to check for flights once Jeju’s visa-free entry has been implemented.

Before you get to Jeju Island, be sure you already have these travel essentials ready:

  • South Korean SIM card or travel WiFi – so you’ll stay connected throughout your trip, which is essential especially for finding directions and contacting your hotel.
  • T-Money card – which you can use for transportation and payment at convenience stores and other affiliated shops.

Where to Eat in Jeju

Eating is also a great adventure in Jeju! Here are the best food havens you should not miss.

Dongmun Traditional Market

via Rei L.

Situated at the heart of Jeju City, Dongmun Traditional Market is where you can find it all. It’s a huge and exciting place to explore, with its labyrinthian alleys lined with mouthwatering finds — from fresh seafood and street snacks to local produce like the famous hallabong!

Location: 20, Gwandeok-ro 14-gil, Jeju-si, Jeju-do

Black Pork Street

via Visit Jeju

The first thing you have to know about black pork is that the meat is not black; the color refers to the pig’s coat. However, the meat does have a distinctly darker hue compared to regular pork, which also indicates a richer flavor. It is usually enjoyed at K-BBQ restaurants. Take your pick at the famous Black Pork Street in Jeju City!

Location: Gwandeok-ro 15-gil, Jeju-si, Jeju-do

Chilsimni Food Street

via Rei L.

Delightfully located along the coast of Seogwipo City, Chilsimni Food Street is lined with restaurants and cafes that offer views of the ocean as you dine. It is the best place to enjoy various seafood specialties. Pubs, BBQ restaurants, and Instagrammable cafes are also added into the mix.
