Junior Ocean Protector Camp
Looking for something educational yet meaningful for school-going children to attend during this June School Holidays? Children will love the Junior Ocean Protector Camp organised by S.E.A. Aquarium. That’s because they’ll learn more about marine life and how their daily actions play a part in reducing ocean pollution.
In this 4-hour drop-off programme, children will learn about the toothy apex predators through a variety of hands-on and observational activities.
Shark Encounter
One fascinating fact about sharks is that they have a constantly renewable supply of teeth. Children get to hold a replica of a shark’s jaw in order to deepen their experience.
In addition, they can observe shark embryos in various developmental stages, and get up close to hammerhead sharks.
Exclusive: Marine Animal Feeding Session
This part of the program takes place in an area off-limits to the public. Therefore, photography and videography are prohibited. Nevertheless, it is fascinating to observe how the aquarists feed the giant mantas with krill.
During the camp, children will be introduced to the various shark species that call S.E.A. Aquarium home. Other than zebra sharks, the aquarium hosts more than 12 shark species including hammerhead sharks, blacktip reef sharks and the sandbar shark.
Upcycling Workshop
To illustrate the importance of reducing waste, there is an upcycling workshop included as part of the programme. In addition to learning about what upcycling means, they will get to create a “new” item from recyclables.
Storytelling Session
Through a storytelling session, children will learn how their actions will affect the future of the oceans.
Certificate Presentation
At the end of the camp, each participant will receive a certificate from S.E.A. Aquarium recognising them as a Junior Ocean Protector!
Picnic
To mark the end of the camp, the children will enjoy a leisurely picnic with newfound friends. The balanced meal is served in biodegradable, plastic-free packaging.
