All about the Malaysia VTL (Land and Air)

The announcement of the Malaysia VTL has brought relief to many families waiting to reunite. After more than a year of closed borders, vaccinated travellers will be able to enter Malaysia quarantine-free, via both air and land.

The first phase of the land VTL will be open only to Malaysian residents, permanent residents and long-term pass holders. However, you can travel for leisure via air.

Malaysia VTL Requirements (Air VTL)

  • Be fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine under the World Health Organisation Emergency Use Listing
  • No travel history to any other country besides Singapore and/or Malaysia in the last 14 days
  • Have a return ticket on a VTL flight if you’re a short-term visitor
  • Purchase mandatory travel insurance with a minimum coverage of RM100,000 (S$32,500) for COVID-19 related medical/treatment expenses and hospitalisation costs if you’re a short-term visitor
  • Download the MySejahtera app to aid in contact tracing while in Malaysia.

PCR/ART Requirements

  • Pre-departure Test (PCR): Take a Covid-19 Pre-departure COVID PCR test within 48 hours before departure.
  • On-Arrival Test (PCR): Take a PCR test upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport
  • Pre-departure Test (PCR/ART): Take a Covid-19 Pre-departure COVID PCR/ART test within 48 hours before departure
  • On-Arrival Test (PCR): Take a PCR test upon arrival at Changi Airport

Malaysia VTL Requirements (Land VTL)

  • Book a designated VTL bus trip
  • Be a Singapore/Malaysian citizen, permanent resident or long-term pass holder
  • Be fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine under the World Health Organisation Emergency Use Listing
  • No travel history to any other country besides Singapore and/or Malaysia in the last 14 days
  • Purchase mandatory travel insurance with a minimum coverage of RM100,000 (S$32,500) for COVID-19 related medical/treatment expenses and hospitalisation costs if you’re a short-term visitor

  • On-Arrival Test (ART): Take an ART upon arrival at Queen Street Terminal or Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange
