K-Drama Moments That Will Make You Fall In Love With Autumn In South Korea

Every season has a particular effect on a K-drama, but nothing is more versatile than autumn. Fall colors span a wide spectrum that can match any scene or mood, from romantic and emotional to magical and suspenseful. The colors, even if blurred in the background, are total eye candy. Not to mention the fall fashion that surely strikes the eyes. If you want the best photos for the gram, there’s no better season to travel than at the height of autumn in South Korea.

If you need some inspiration, here are our favorite K-drama moments that will convince you that autumn is the best season in South Korea!

Goblin

via Viu

Goblin definitely threw us head over heels for its magical, heart-rending scenes, many of which are backdropped by autumn foliage. While some of the scenes were filmed in Quebec, Canada, many moments were also set in gorgeous fall locations in South Korea—such as when a drunken Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) proclaimed that Ji Eun-tak (Kim Go-eun) was his first and last bride in the midst of a fiery autumn landscape of Cheongna Lake Park in Incheon.

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

Another K-drama with strong autumn vibes is Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo. A lot of cute scenes between Bok-joo (Lee Sung-kyung) and Joon-hyung (Nam Joo-hyuk) took place in the fall season. Most notably, they’ve shown us that autumn is the best time to set up a bunk bed on a rooftop and go on a date under the stars. The reddish hues of the nearby trees are matched well with fairy lights that create a dreamy bokeh backdrop for the two adorable lovebirds.

Cheese in the Trap

Cheese in the Trap was also largely filmed in autumn, so we get all kinds of memorable scenes tinted with fall colors. Many moments between campus couple Yoo Jung (Park Hae-jin) and Hong Seol (Kim Go-eun) were set in Seoul National University of Science and Technology, which reveals to be a very attractive place in autumn with lots of trees, green spaces, and even ponds and waterways.

Tomorrow with You

The posters of Tomorrow with You already make you feel the autumn air. The subdued tones evoke a warm, nostalgic feeling—a mood that’s most fitting for a K-drama with a time-traveling theme. Combine that with lead actors Lee Je-hoon and Shin Min-ah in fashionable long coats, and you’ve got the perfect inspiration for a K-drama-themed photo op in South Korea. If you’re wondering about the teaser video with the quaint European tram model, it was filmed in Gyeonggi English Village, Paju.

Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life will surely satiate you with its 100-episode run and an interweave of gripping storylines. Between the lead couple Kim Cheong-ah (Seol In-ah) and Goo Joon-hwi (Kim Jae-young), many of their most romantic moments took place in an autumn setting, although circumstances are sometimes ironic. Such as when they shared an emotional embrace at the top of Naksan Park—a romantic spot to appreciate the colors of fall foliage in Seoul—as mysteries between them are unraveling.

The Smile Has Left Your Eyes

The Smile Has Left Your Eyes is laden with romance, dark secrets, and suspense—which makes autumn moments stand out more easily, the fall scenery offering relief from the somber storyline. One of the most unforgettable is the lead couple Kim Moo-young (Seo In-guk) and Yoo Jin-kang’s (Jung So-min) retreat to a picturesque town called Haesan, where they amble along on foliage-coated grounds.
