How To Plan The Best ‘Friends: The Reunion’ Watch Party At Home

Cult-favorite American sitcom Friends ran for ten seasons (over 200 episodes) from 1994 to 2004, traversing generations from X to Z. The cast, the relatability, the lessons, the humor, or all of the above—it’s hard to pinpoint the exact reason why it’s so enduringly popular, but it certainly made an impact on a lot of people. And now 25 years since it first aired, the hype certainly still isn’t over as fans will soon be treated to Friends: The Reunion. Here’s what you need to know along with tips for planning the best Friends watch party at home.

Friends: The Reunion isn’t a sequel to the original series, but rather what it says on the tin. The whole cast—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer—will reunite in an unscripted show where they return to the iconic filming sets (nostalgia alert!), relive their characters, play games, and more.

However, it won’t just be the six of them alone as they will also be joined by different celebrity guests including Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, David Beckham, and BTS whose RM is known to be a huge fan of the series. They will also sit down with James Corden for an interview in front of a live audience. Behind-the-scenes footage will also be revealed, so watch out!

Friends: The Reunion will premiere on May 27, 2021, exclusively on HBO Max. Unfortunately, HBO Max is not available in the Philippines—or in Asia—but we do have HBO GO, which will be streaming the event for Filipino viewers on May 27 at 3:01 pm!

In the meantime, you can feed your nostalgia and go on a watching spree of all the ten seasons of Friends, which is available on Netflix

Friends is going to be a long marathon, so you want to be perfectly set and comfortable before you start watching. Be sure you’ve got these all checked:

  • Home theater setup

Set up Netflix on your smart TV, connect your laptop to a sizable screen, or use a projector! Be sure your speakers are working clear and crisp too.

If you really want to recreate that movie theater experience, you can also install blackout curtains on windows or around your TV, and add some dimming lights!

  • Cozy space

Throw your favorite PJs on, and gather your favorite pillows and blankets. Make it extra cozy by turning on a diffuser or humidifier with your favorite fragrance. Or, if you don’t have one, light up some scented candles!

  • Friends-themed snacks

If you’re an avid Friends fan, you’ll know:

Cheesecake (you don’t have to eat it from the floor)
Bottles of milk (drink slowly, please)
Cookies from the one with Phoebe’s

Sometimes, your pals are the best people to enjoy the show with. Even if you can’t be physically together, you can still have a watch party by using platforms like Teleparty (formerly Netflix Party), Scener, or Metastream. These browser extensions let you watch shows at the same time and interact through text or video chat. Of course, you need to have a stable internet connection. Everybody should have their own Netflix subscription as well.

Now, you’re all set! Find more snacks such as pastries and milk tea for you and your friends on KKday!
