Siargao Adventure Guide: Travel Guidelines, Activities, And Tours (UPDATED 2021)

While we’re still waiting for international borders to open back up, know that there is never a shortage of places to explore in the Philippines. And right now, it’s safe to say that Siargao is everybody’s dream escape. Beach bum or not, you could greatly benefit from the environment and lifestyle in Siargao. The free-spirited island life, the sun-loving palm trees, and of course—the swell! All these can take you away from the stress in the city.

Planning Your Trip to Siargao

Guidelines differ depending on where you’re coming from and whether you’re connected with someone in Siargao. We’ve listed the requirements and other important things to note below.

 

Requirements for Tourists

Email these requirements a day before your departure to sdntourism@gmail.com.

Tourists invited by a local resident of Surigao del Norte:

  •     Negative swab/saliva RT-PCR test result released within forty-eight (48) hours or two (2) days prior to arrival
  •     Children who are seventeen (17) years old and below are exempted from presenting a negative swab/saliva RT-PCR test result
  •     Valid identification card
  •     Travel Certification issued by the Mayor of the City/Municipality of destination (within the Province of Surigao del Norte)

Walk-in tourists (no invitation):

  • Negative result of RT-PCR test or COVID-19 saliva test released within 48 hours prior to the trip
  • Valid ID
  • Confirmed booking of at least 2 nights from a DOT-accredited accommodation

Tourists from the NCR Plus bubble:

As of March 22, 2021, residents from Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan are unfortunately not allowed to travel to Surigao del Norte, which includes Siargao, until further notice. You can follow the Facebook page of Siargao Tourism Assistance Center for real-time updates. 

 

Tips & Reminders

Once your trip is approved, you’ll also need to get your Surigao del Norte e-HEALTH Pass here. After filling in your personal details and health declaration, you will be provided with a QR code. You’ll need this when entering establishments in the province. Don’t forget to print a copy or save it on your phone, and have a valid ID with you at all times.

Also do note that walk-in is not allowed for most attractions and activities, and advanced bookings may be required. Read on and find all the tours you can book in the next section.
