Melaka Zoo is the second largest zoo in Malaysia. It has over 1,200 animals of 200 different species. The best part of the zoo is the night-viewing safari when tourists travel around in a tram to see lit-up nocturnal wildlife exhibits up and about. It is operated by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks so a number of birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians live in the complex.

The Melaka Zoo is a member of the Southeast Asian Zoos and Aquariums Association (SEAZA). The species they have conserved include tigers, panthers, tapirs, serows, barking deers, sambar deers, and much more. Plus, the zoo has an open concept where the animals have room to roam around, while visitors have the opportunity to see them up close and personal.

Apart from looking at the animals, there are also feeding sessions and horseback riding for visitors where children can enjoy interacting with the animals with professional supervisors while parents can stay back and take as many pictures as they want. The elephant feeding session has to be one of the most interesting experiences for adults too.

The opposite side of the zoo will lead you to the Tiger’s Eye Cafe where you can eat and be entertained by regal Bengal tigers looking at you through the glass at a super close distance, and if the tiger begins to step in your direction don’t be afraid as it’s completely safe. This experience is truly for the adventurous.
