SINGAPORE—It’s time to book that ‘Singapoliday,’ as the countdown begins for the much-awaited SingapoRediscovers Vouchers.
In December, Singaporeans aged 18 and above will be given SGD 100 vouchers to spend on hotel stays, attraction tickets, and tours. This is to encourage residents to take a local holiday—dubbed a ‘Singapoliday’—to support tourism businesses, which are among the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Singaporeans have expressed excitement over this campaign, as they will be able to support the industry while enjoying sights and exploring aspects of life of Singapore. Here is everything you need to know about these vouchers and how you can use them.
WHAT ARE SINGAPOREDISCOVERS VOUCHERS?
The SingapoRedisovers Vouchers are a means to support local tourism businesses. They will complement the ongoing SingapoRediscovers campaign, launched on July 22, 2020. On August 17, the Government announced that they allocated S$320 million in the form of Vouchers.
HOW MANY VOUCHERS WILL I GET (AND HOW MUCH ARE THEY IN TOTAL)?
$100 worth of vouchers will be provided in denominations of $10 and will be given digitally via Singpass.
WHO ARE QUALIFIED TO RECEIVE VOUCHERS?
Adult Singaporeans aged 18 and above will receive $100 digital vouchers each. If you’re under 18, the government will provide a $10 subsidy for child/youth tickets for attractions and tours. Each SingapoRediscovers Vouchers user is eligible to purchase up to 6 child/youth tickets at subsidized prices for the duration of the scheme.
WHEN CAN I START USING THESE VOUCHERS?
You can start using your $100 vouchers from December 2020 until the end of June 2021.
WHERE CAN I USE MY VOUCHERS?
Staycations, local tourist attractions, and more! All licensed hotels, tourist attractions, and tours that have been approved by the Singapore Tourism Board are eligible to benefit from this scheme. These include top attractions and hotels in the country such as Universal Studios Singapore, Singapore Cable Car, Skyline Luge Sentosa, Kiztopia, Orchard Rendezvous Hotel, the Fullerton Hotel, and more.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR TOURISM BUSINESSES?
As tourism businesses reopen and gain support, the Vouchers will contribute towards business revenue, and help these businesses tide through this challenging period.
