Taiwan Grants Visa-Free Entry Extension For Filipinos Until July 2021

Put your dream Taiwan trip on hold for now? Don’t worry! You can still go to Taiwan visa-free until next year!

Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced Thursday, 23 July, that they are extending the visa-free entry privilege for Filipinos for another year—that is from 1 August 2020 to 31 July 2021.

This move is part of an effort to further promote the New Southbound Policy to strengthen Taiwan’s ties with other countries, including nationals of Thailand, Brunei, and Russia, who will also continue to enjoy visa-free entry to the island for the same period as the Philippines’.

Due to the current travel climate, however, the MOFA reiterated that they are still imposing travel restrictions and certain protocols to Taiwan-bound travelers to curb the spread of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In the meantime, any foreign national who wishes to enter Taiwan for purposes such as business and diplomatic trips, internships and training, international conferences or trade fairs, international and youth exchanges, volunteerism, religious proselytization, working holidays, and employment are allowed entry and may apply for a special entry permit.

Upon entering Taiwan, visitors are required to present an English-language certificate of a negative COVID-19 test taken within three days prior to their arrival. All foreign nationals who’ve passed through immigration and health checks are also mandated to undergo a 14-day home quarantine period.
