San Diego Comic-Con Is Bringing Its Events Online With Comic-Con @Home

San Diego Comic-Con 2020 may have been canceled due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but that doesn’t mean all the fun has to stop, too!

Over the weekend, the creative minds behind San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) announced and unveiled the dates for Comic-Con@Home, a virtual version of the beloved convention, which will officially take place from 22 to 26 July—the original dates of the supposed SDCC this year.

As the first in SDCC’s 50-year history, the international convention’s spokesperson David Glanzer said, “Though stay-at-home conditions make this a very difficult time, we see this as an opportunity to spread some joy and strengthen our sense of community.”

The online event will be free for all and is reported to include a virtual Exhibit Hall that will offer a wide variety of exclusive promotions, specials, and limited-edition products to amplify the experience.

As for the panels, the organizers of Comic-Con@Home have yet to announce their concrete plans, but the event will surely feature discussions about movies, TV shows, gaming, comics, and more—just like the actual convention. The best part? Everyone’s welcome to join in the fun and excitement!

Meanwhile, the dates for next year’s SDCC have been set. So mark your calendars as the event will return to the San Diego Convention Center from 22-25 July 2021.
