The cherry blossoms have finally bloomed…in Singapore!
Yep, you read that right. The elusive and delicate pink flowers have started to flaunt their petals in the tropical Lion City, and you can witness them in full bloom up until 29 March 2020 at Gardens by the Bay’s Sakura Matsuri.
The festival highlights various attractions and mini-events organized throughout the garden, but mainly at the Flower Dome, where you will find the Tale of the Peach Boy Floral Display.
Inspired by the adventures of the legendary Japanese folklore hero Momotaro, the Tale of the Peach Boy Floral Display invites you to step into a whimsical world dotted with torii gates, gassy-style farmhouses, and, of course, over 300 sakura trees as well as 200 peach or momo blossoms.
Sakura Matsuri offers visitors the complete Japanese cultural experience, featuring activities like tea ceremonies, musical performances, and even a martial arts showcase!
And to ensure that every program is as authentic as it gets, Gardens by the Bay collaborated with Japan Creative Centre, the cultural arm of the Embassy of Japan in Singapore, for the springtime affair.
Anime enthusiasts are also in for a treat, as The Meadow transforms into an anime paradise in the last weekend of March for the return of Sakura Matsuri: Anime Garden.
Aside from the annual cosplay competition, you can expect meet and greet sessions with celebrity cosplayers, J-Pop performances and concerts, anime screenings, and—for the merchandise aficionado—a matsuri marketplace featuring unique anime goods and Japanese snacks!
So don’t be too sad if your plans of catching the cherry blossoms in Japan have been pushed back by recent events. You can simply enjoy the sight of the powder pink beauties right in Singapore!
