How To Maximize Your Tokyo Disneysea Visit

Whether you’re traveling with family or with a group of friends, you want to make the most of your time at the Tokyo Disney Resort. Located just outside of Tokyo, Japan, the resort is comprised of two theme parks: Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. While Tokyo Disneyland offers a lot of family-friendly attractions and areas similar to Disneyland in Anaheim, California and Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, Tokyo DisneySea caters more towards an older demographic with rides meant to be enjoyed by teens and adults.

But like all other Disney Parks, it can get very crowded. For hacks and tips, follow this rough guide to maximizing your stay at Tokyo DisneySea.

Plan Your Trip

Before purchasing Tokyo Disneyland or DisneySea tickets, decide when you’d like to go to the park. Holidays in Japan like Golden Week and New Year are usually the busiest and most crowded times at the park. Summer (late July to early August) is a peak season when students and families spend their vacation time. Expect to see mild crowds even during off-peak season as many people in the area have annual passes that they use during weekends. But visiting during off-peak days means less people and shorter lines. Just be sure to also keep watch of the weather forecast to be prepared just in case!

Same-day tickets are available for purchase at the park gates. However, this is a risky move as they may sell out due to the size of crowds at the park. The best way to guarantee a ticket is to purchase one online through the Tokyo Disney Resort website. But if you’re already in Tokyo and decide to visit DisneySea, tickets are also available at the Disney Store in Shibuya or through ticketing machines at convenience stores (Japanese only).

Transportation and Accommodation

Staying at one of the hotels in the Tokyo Disney Resort will guarantee a quick trip to the park in the morning but hotel rates are much higher compared to those in the city. Don’t worry, though, as there are many ways to get to the park from Tokyo. Buses and trains from various stations around Tokyo allow for easy access to and from the park. You can also charter a private vehicle to take you directly to the park so you don’t have to deal with bus and train schedules.

To get the most of your day, it is recommended to get to the park before opening to get in line early. Be sure to check bus and train schedules to make sure you get there before gates open. But for guests staying at Disney hotels, they can enjoy Happy 15 Privileges which can provide early access into the park.

Rides, Attractions, and More

The first thing you want to do when you get inside the park is to pick up a FastPass. This can shorten the wait in line for one ride to allow you more time to explore the park. Just be sure to keep the time in mind so you don’t miss out on your slot!

It’s also a good idea to check the park calendar to get an idea of when parades and shows are happening as well as knowing which rides might be closed for the day. This can help you plan out your route for the day and get a great spot to watch the seasonal parade.

There’s so much to see and do at Tokyo DisneySea, but remember to take a break from all the walking and waiting in lines! Luckily there are many spots where visitors can sit down and relax throughout the day. And don’t forget to pick up some of Tokyo Disney’s famous popcorn to snack on during your stay.
