Here, we break down five spots in Taichung, where you can commune with nature:
Zhong She Flower Market
If there is one word to describe Zhong She Flower Market, it would be enchanting. A vast flower field that pops in various colors as the seasons change, it’s a picturesque site perfect for cutesy and romantic photoshoots. Marvel at rows upon rows of lavender, cosmos, and sunflowers, as you breathe in the fresh air or snap pictures with on-site props such as statues, a princess carriage, and a grand piano for the ‘gram!

The sky seems to paint the most stunning sunsets in Gaomei Wetlands. A 1,500-acre landscape lined with towering windmills, it makes for a dramatic sundown stroll. Walk down a path that ends with an open area where you can sink your feet in the wet sand or simply watch flocks of birds fly towards the horizon.

Dasyueshan Forest Recreation Area
A national forest recreation area located at the back of the south-westerly main ridge of the Xueshan mountain range, it crosses different elevation zones, which pretty much explains the varying temperatures in the area. The Dasyueshan Forest Recreation Area used to be a major logging center in Taichung, but is now a popular spot for flower viewing in early autumn.

Dakeng Scenic Area
Tagged as Taichung’s most beautiful back garden, Dakeng features well-planned forest trails great for hiking. Awash with numerous tree species, the area also gets especially alluring when the dry season transitions to the wet season, as the trees’ golden yellow leaves blanket the ground.
Lane 383, Section 1, Dongshan Road, Beitun District, Taichung City
Nature speaks through colors in Wuling Farm, which is perhaps the most beautiful mountain farm in the region. During spring, the area blushes in pink as cherry blossoms bloom. Come September, dainty sprays of cosmos adorn the farm before warm colors cast a fiery spell in autumn.
