Yep! Petite France is where, in season 15 of My Love from the Star, Professor Do Min-joon finally confesses his love for Cheon Song-yi. Petite France is a French themed cultural village in Gyeonggi-do and is based on Antoine de Saint Exupery’s fairy tale The Little Prince. In Petite France you can enjoy a little piece of France in Korea, take a walk through the romantic little village with charming French style architecture, fountain, arts and crafts.

There is also a puppet show where the performances are so good that even if you don’t understand Korean, they’re still a lot of fun!

If you’re a fan of Korean period dramas, then you’ll probably already be familiar with Korean Folk Village, used for filming Arang and the Magistrate, Hwang Jini, Dae Jang Geum and Moon Embracing the Sun.

The village, opened in 1974, is in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do and is a large open-air, living museum, showcasing what life in Korea was like during the Joseon era with fascinating architecture, activities and performances around every corner.

Kang Joon-sang and Jeong Yoo-jin’s love story in Winter Sonata had us all wiping away the tears in front of the TV. The story was set in Namisum, in Chuncheon, about one hour outside of Seoul, making it a great day trip from the city.

There are bicycles to rent on the  little half-moon shaped island to tour the sites. The island is beautiful to visit no matter the season when it’s green in spring, covered in snow during winter, beautiful autumnal colors in the fall or to enjoy the refreshing summer breeze.

Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌한옥마을)

Sandwiched between Gyeongbok Palace and Changdeok Palace in northern Seoul is Bukchon Hanok Village. This village is full of traditional Korean houses (hanok), in fact the whole village has retained it’s historical Joseon dynasty roots, allowing visitors the chance to take a step back in time and experience a part of Korean history and to also browse the crafts and sample in the delicacies.

Bukchon Hanok Village was also used as a setting for Personal Taste, Monster and Heartstrings. Nearby to the historical village are the perfectly contrasting, artistic and modern districts of Samcheong-dong and Insa-dong creating a fantastic blend of the old and the new Korea.

From period dramas to modern-day set romance stories such as Empress Myeongseong and Ladies of the Palace, to Rooftop Prince and Queen In-Hyun’s Man, the Gyeongbokgung or Gyeongbok Palace, has featured heavily and you’ve probably seen the outline of the royal palace in the background of some of your favorite shows. Gyeongbokgung is the largest of Seoul’s five grand palaces and was built in 1395 in the Joseon dynasty and served as the main home to the Kings of Korea until the 19th century. After you’ve marveled at the palace, don’t forget to check out the nearby Tosokchon restaurant, famous for their wonderful chicken soup (samgyetang).

Right on Namsan Mountain in the middle of Seoul is N Seoul Tower, featured in Boys Over Flowers, it marks the highest point in Seoul. The tower is especially impressive at night when lit up by colorful LED lights. The tower also has a 360 degree revolving restaurant and a viewing platform to enjoy incredible views of all of Seoul.

N Seoul Tower makes for a great romantic date spot with many things for couples to do such as, rowing down the Hangang River with Namsan Mountain in the background and lovers can also seal their love with a padlock and lock it to the railing of the tower roof terrace.

Hangang Park, Yeouido Island

Do you remember the scene from City Hunter where the main characters, Lee Yoon-sung and Kim Na-na meet? That’s Hangang Park on Yeouido Island. With so much to see and do, the park is a favorite spot for Seoulites to go on weekends and days off. Some of the attractions in Hangang Park include the water light square, the fountain pools, the floating stage and the piano walkway, Lots of people come to the park to exercise and play sports too, from joggers, to football and basketball all over the park, there is even watersports to enjoy over the summer.

We love hitting Hangang Park on a summer’s afternoon, relaxing on the grass with a picnic, some fried chicken and a cold beer. The most beautiful time of year to take a romantic stroll through the park is around March or April when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
